Describe an average day at Impraise?

Well, the good time about Impraise is that there are no average days, specially on the Marketing team. But ideally it would be to kick off the day with a stand-up where everyone quickly shares what they did the previous day and what they’re going to be focused on this day. Shared lunches with the whole company, everyone in the same table, followed by some conversations with editors and journalists from different media outlets, that would be my average day. But I insist, this is very relative, for example right now I’m writing these answers an hour before I pitch our startup to a crowd of 100 people in a context of a startup competition.

As a startup marketer, what are some of your favorite productivity hacks?

My workmate Ben Vink shared some of his productivity hacks that I find very useful. Setting up a Google online timer for 20 minutes followed by a 10 minutes break. That helps a lot to keep concentrated. Also, turning off notifications from Slack helps as well — it is unbelievable the time we spend responding to slack notifications. Having a stand-up with your team in the mornings and writing down the priorities for the day in my notebook also helps a lot.

Your company has a growing community of users. How do you use this treasure trove of customer insight to power your marketing efforts?

The fact that we have an increasing community of users challenges us everyday to keep on delivering high quality content and impactful marketing and PR campaigns. We normally try to engage with them in many ways, as you said they are our biggest treasure and we try to learn everyday from their needs and pain points in order to deliver a more tailored solution everyday. So from the Marketing point of view we normally write case studies about them, we try to get their testimonials to reflect how to do things properly in our blog, we try to offer keynotes and workshops sessions with some of our most influential clients in the market, and we are constantly communicating the newest features that we launched, among many other actions. I personally believe that when it comes to offer the perfect solution your clients are the best source of information on what to focus on.

What is your strategy for getting people to your site and then converting them to a customer?

Well, we normally try to provide high quality content, based on research and in-depth analysis of our product usage. We’ve got two editors writing very good content, which is normally picked up by big publications that our target audience read. We also try to engage with them on social media and press articles.

Is there any advice you’d like to give to budding startup marketers to help them work smart and stay productive?

Yes, when you work in a startup there are always MANY things to do every day. I would encourage them to learn how to delegate stuff, to keep one or at least half an hour of the day to remain creative by going outdoors or breaking with their routine somehow and to implement an open feedback culture in their workplaces, so every time they lack inspiration or innovation they can easily get insights from other team members or areas.

A big thanks to Matias for taking the time out to answer these questions! If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you check out Impraise.
