The Way I Manage My Projects with brightpod
Most of us work about 3 to 4 hours each day. We have one central location however, most of us work from home and meet once or twice a week at the office.
I generally work from 10 am until 2 pm each day. My job is to create marketing strategies to make people aware of Your First Mud Run event. I generally go after sponsors, and charities to create teams to raise money. I have to stay in touch with co-workers that I am not sitting around or who are nearby me. Before Brightpod, we were communicating via email for the most part and a lot of follow up was getting lost.
a. Being able to have some sort of system where my daily work is already laid out and I know what I have to do each and every day.
b. Being able to communicate effectively with people I am working with.
c. Being able to know that someone is handling an assignment and I no longer have to worry about it.
We have over a dozen events this year. These events are in different states and deal with sponsors, teams, charities in several different states. We have about 8 team members. We use Brightpod to stay in touch with each other; to know who is working on what; to make sure we stay on top of our assignments and to make sure everything is done in a timely manner.
We were not using anything before Brightpod except emails. This was counter-productive because there were times when emails weren't looked at in a timely manner; when emails were lost; when we had no idea who was really working on what. Because it was getting confusing, we decided to look for some sort of tool that would allow us to work together, even though we generally work apart from each other. Brightpod was the best option because it gave us the ability to keep track of assignments; know what is going on at all times and keep in touch with each other more effectively.
There wasn't any real "learning" curve as the product is easy to use. Our main challenge was/is to getting everyone to USE it every day. Because people are used to the old way of sending emails, our challenge was to get everyone to actually USE the product so that it will be much easier for all of us.
My favorite feature is the Task Assignments. Before, if we might not have know who was really working on what part of the assignment. Some times it would mean that two people may have accidentally done the same exact thing because we knew it had to be done, but it wasn't really assigned to anyone. NOW we know who handles what, when they start it, when they complete it and if they have any issues with it.
I would be upset because it would mean we were hustling backwards. You can't go from a broken system, to a working system and then back to a broken system and not feel the pitch of that.
I am grateful for finding Brightpod because it has made my work day a lot more productive.
