July 12, 2018

This week we feature Aaron Crewe, Founder of Novi Digital. Novi Digital is an Multi Award Winning SEO and PPC Agency focused on Data and Pscyhology. At Novi they focus on applying their information and experience to innovate and produce efficient and productive outcomes for their clients.

In this interview, you can read more about his work, favorite marketing tools, productivity tips as well as his advice for budding marketers.

Your location: This changes for too often to state one individual location. Instead, I’d have to say being in somewhere unexpected with the time to take it all in and appreciate where I am.

Your favorite gadget: My Lenovo Yoga!

You start your day with: A quick coffee, then the gym!

Your top 3 blogs you read daily: BusinessInsider.com, Quartz, CMO.com.

A picture of your workstation or the view outside your window if that inspires you:

Describe an average day at Novi Digital?

There’s nothing average about a day at novi! The best days are those that are phenomenally different from the day prior, it is a shock to the system and avoids complacency, that’s why we always try to keep each day varied, whilst keeping some of the same routines for structure, safety, security and creative free-thinking.

As a Founder what are some of your favorite productivity hacks?

Exercise and Holidays, during both of these, the best way for me to be productive is to switch off my phone and give myself time to think. I find that I have my best ideas when I’m given opportunity to think. Additionally, never allow yourself to stop learning and ensure that keep reading books, listen to audiobooks, watch ted talks and speak to people outside of your industry.

As a person who is well-versed with online marketing/ inbound,  I’m sure you rely on a few marketing tools to automate your efforts.  What are the top 3-5 tools you use?

I have to say that the top tools I would recommend are those that we have built ourselves during the past decade, other tools are often clunky and attempt to do too much, whilst doing so badly. We created specific tools to achieve particular outcomes.

Your company has a growing community of users. How do you use this treasure trove of customer insight to power your marketing efforts?

We have built our own insights blog for clients and our own internal wiki for our employees. Everyone is allowed to contribute whenever they like.

What is your strategy for getting people to your site and then converting them to a customer?

Reverse-engineer the process, don’t aim to sell to them. Instead, you should focus on what the customer wants, why they want it and how you going to give that to them. Demand comes first, not Supply.

Is there any advice you'd like to give to budding marketers to help them work smart and stay productive?

Focus on doing One Thing and doing it well. It’s difficult to do so, especially when there are so many things to do, but prioritise your time, it is finite. Plan ahead, create a schedule, delegate and outsource, but most importantly keep clarity.

How do teams at Novi Digital have fun at work/ make work fun?

We have an internal Chat channel and shared working space, whilst we don’t opt-in to novelty, I think the team at Novi laughs more than any group of people I’ve ever encountered. They keep each other smiling all day every day.

A big thanks to Aaron for taking the time out to answer these questions! If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you check out Novi Digital.
