Describe an average day at Re-Leased?

An average day at Re-Leased consists of brainstorming, hustling, hacking and celebrating. We’re always brainstorming new ways to improve and scale our processes. Hustling our big rocks at the bottom of the funnel and hacking new ways to be different in the marketplace. We are a product centric company so we feed back customer suggestions to our development team daily so that they can produce relevant monthly features and improvements. And finally, celebrating the individual and team successes that we strive for each day.

As a marketer, what are some of your favorite productivity hacks?

We have a ‘Legends Session’ once or twice a week where we get out of the office, stepback from the day-to-day stuff and throw ideas at each other about new approaches. This gets the team pumped up, and normally we come away with a new plan which we can implement immediately.

As a person who is well-versed with online marketing/ inbound, I’m sure you rely on a few marketing tools to automate your efforts. What are the top 3–5 tools you use?

1. Autopilot. They’re a great marketing automation tool at a fraction of the price of Hubspot or Marketo. It plugs into Salesforce to automates our new leads, and we can create awesome lead journeys! It’s the backbone of our inbound marketing.

2. Unbounce. A very dynamic platform to create landing pages, the new templates they have on offer are fantastic. And they plug into Autopilot.

3. Fiverr is great platform to source and automate our freelancers — from copywriters, designers, to video voiceovers, it’s an easy tool to manage our different projects on the go.

Your company has a growing community of users. How do you use this treasure trove of customer insight to power your marketing efforts?

Salesforce is so important for us to collect customer data, and it actually enables us to make data-led decisions when we’re constantly looking to scale and grow our business. Yes it’s expensive, but oh so valuable.

What is your strategy for getting people to your site and then converting them to a customer?

It’s a combination of promoting great content such as ebooks and blogs, showcasing Re-Leased’s awesome product features through channels like email, social, and utilising our partners such as Xero. Once they’re on our site, we need to ensure they have an awesome experience when navigating, but also optimise it so at any stage they can enquire, subscribe or download. Converting them to a customer comes down to a smart online lead nurture journey, but always picking up the phone for a chat. Phone first and phone often is a policy we encourage.

Is there any advice you’d like to give to budding startup marketers to help them work smart and stay productive?

Always be hungry, keep challenging yourself and your peers, and the most important — learn. Throw yourself into situations with the mindset of try, learn, pivot. And importantly, learn from those who have done it, learn from the best. Seek their wisdom and lessons from their mistakes.

A big thanks to Sam for taking the time out to answer these questions! If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you check out Re-leased.
